Hi there! I’m Crystal, the hands and heart behind Dunavant Designs. I’ve been happily married to my husband for 30+ years and we are proud parents of a Marine veteran (Ooh rah! 🇺🇸), and spoiler of our sweet little dog, Suki. ❤️
I create handcrafted wood art pieces — from charming cat and dog door toppers that make people smile, to beautiful wood floral art and other unique home accents all made with care, creativity, and designed to bring warmth, personality, and a touch of nature into your space.
How It All Started
I was a late bloomer in discovering my love for woodworking. I never thought I’d be doing anything like this! People often ask me how I got into woodworking in my 50s. My husband and I were doing a little home makeover and installing crown molding. I learned how to cut it on a friend’s miter saw. I discovered I really liked working with tools and it all took off from there! My favorite tool became my scroll saw and that is how I cut all my cats, dogs & flowers!
Over time and with a lot of encouragement from family & friends, I decided to start trying to sell my work. My dad passed away years before and never got to see me venture into woodworking. I knew he would have been proud of me and I wanted to honor him by using my maiden name, and so Dunavant Designs was born!
My Promise
I strive to make sure every piece I make has the best possible finish — something I’d be proud to hang in my own home. Each item is carefully cut, sanded, and painted, with attention to detail and a whole lot of heart. Whether it’s a custom pet topper or a floral design that never wilts, my goal is to create something that makes you smile every time you see it.
What brings me the most joy is hearing that my work makes people happy. I’m especially touched when my cat and dog door toppers are used as a way to remember beloved pets who have passed. As someone who has loved and lost pets of my own, I understand how special those memories are — and it’s an honor to help preserve them in a small, heartfelt way.
